If you have private health insurance you can usually fund some or all of your counselling sessions through your health insurance policy.
I work with a number of medical insurers including BUPA, Aviva, AXA PPP, Nuffield Health and Vitality.
If you would like to start the process of funding your therapy through your private health insurance policy, please contact your insurer first. Before you start therapy with me, you will need to get some information from them:
-
-
Your membership number
-
Your authorisation number
-
The number of sessions approved
-
Is there any excess on your policy? If so, how much is it?
-
Is there any other limit on your policy?
-
Is there a renewal date for your policy each year and if so, is there a new funding allowance for counselling / psychotherapy each year?
-
You need to speak to BUPA and allocate me to your profile before we start
-
The insurance companies vary considerably in their coverage for claims of treatment for psychological conditions. It is the responsibility of every individual to confirm the terms of their policy and act upon advice given by their insurance company. It is also the responsibility of each therapy client to track the number of sessions attended to ensure that each appointment is covered by the terms of the authorisation code. Most insurance companies do not fund couples therapy, so this is something that each client needs to check according to the terms of their policy.
If there is an excess on your policy, this usually means that you will need to pay me directly the initial fees, up to the total of the excess. After that, the remaining fees should be paid by your insurer.
I usually invoice your insurer directly for the session fees. So ordinarily, you will not be required to pay and then reclaim. But different insurance companies and different types of policy can vary, which is why I recommend that you ask the questions above, so you are completely clear about the cover that is available to you.
You will need to give me all the above information, including your full name, your insurance company name, as well as your home address and date of birth at the start. This information ensures that the invoices are processed correctly. This is what enables me to invoice your insurer.
PLEASE NOTE that late cancellations (less than a week’s notice) and missed sessions are NOT covered by your insurer, which means that you will be liable to pay the full fee yourself, on the day of the cancelled or missed session.
